5 Must Haves for Baby: Kam and Denny’s Go-tos

5 Must Haves for Baby: Kam and Denny’s Go-tos

When Kam and Denny were born there were some knick knacks that made life a bit easier. Some of these must-haves were gifts from the shower or me and dad purchased on our own.  We still use these items on an everyday basis. Nowadays there are so many things that are necessary for baby but if we were to go through them all, we’d be here all night. If  you’re a mom to be and you’re trying to scurry to put together a registry, don’t stress out. You’re good luv, Enjoy lol!

1. Humidifier

I didn’t know how much of a difference a humidifier could make for you AND baby. Before Kam and Denny were born, we had just recently moved into our two bedroom apartment in the boonies. As nice and cozy as it was, just after a few nights of being there, I noticed it was extremely stuffy. I’d wake up in the middle of the night with sinus issues and have mini head colds from time to time. I thought it might have been some hidden dust from the newly renovations. The humidifier although helped with dryness in the air especially when my twins became sick. It helped them sleep at night and they didn’t wake up so congested.

Vick’s has different versions of humidifiers. We purchased ours from Woodman’s. You can use the Vick’s pads or liquid which lasts for hours!

2. Nose Aspirator

nose2

A nose aspirator aka nose bulb is a big must-have! Of course babies aren’t able to blow their noses yet or cough up mucus. And if you don’t have this, like me, you might end actually sucking the snot out of your baby’s nose! I know what you’re thinking- “disgusting” right? I couldn’t find it one day and felt bad for my son Denny. It seems like he had been congested since the day he was born. He spent three days in the NICU for some minor breathing problems. I had to literally suck the mucus out and spit it out on tissue. The hospital may give you a couple of bulbs to start off with but nowadays there so many different versions. They’re getting creative!

3. Johnson & Johnson Bedtime Baby Wash/Lotion

Johnson and Johnson could do no wrong. This stuff works wonders for my boys. I received a set of the lotion and body wash from my baby shower and the boys’ grandma bought a super-sized set that lasted a good couple months. I use this for bath time every night and give my babies a bottle right before bed. It helps them sleep peacefully and calm throughout the night. It’s practically sold everywhere: Wal-Mart, Amazon, or your local drugstore. Here’s a product review posted on Johnson’s website with more information on its ingredients:

4. Car Seat Cover

My babies were winter babies so it was important to have them covered out and about. That’s if we HAD to leave the house whether it’d be for a trip to the doctor’s office or grocery store. Don’t forget your fleece blankets of course and coats for baby if it’s chilly out. Having a sick baby is not fun. My twins had something similar in the link below:

5. Nursing Pillow

These cute comfy nursing pillows aka Boopys made a comeback recently. The pillows are bigger and better with more cushioning. I chose not to breastfeed but they still come in handy. Because Kam and Denny were born prematurely, they use to be able to fit on just one. My sons got another set from their grandmother and they loved sleeping on them. Now that my sons are 6 months and at the supported sitter stage, I use them to prop them up on. Don’t leave your baby unattended in these; Not on the bed, couch, or table please. On the floor is the safest way.
